Boys Basketball: Fourteen Pioneers find scoring column as Pierz shuts down Huskers

Senior Caleb Janson extended his school rebounding record with 15 more Tuesday, helping lead Pierz to an 84-46 win over Holdingford.

Janson broke the school record held by Shane Poepping since 1991 with 744th career rebound against Sauk Rapids-Rice, Friday.

Janson also scored 18 points, second to senior Preston Weber’s game-high 20.

Senior Logan Meyer and junior Mitch Bednar joined the duo in double figures with 10 points apiece as 14 different players scored for the Pioneers.

Juniors Cullin Carter and Josh Templin scored six and four points, respectively.

Seniors Ben Huffman, Michael Marshik, Kevin Mitchell and Devaunte Stumpf and juniors Ben Boser, Jess Kasper, Cole Reardon and Dylan Smieja each chipped in two points.

Holdingford senior Caleb Gosiak led the Huskers on offense with nine points, while juniors Taylor Millbrandt, Alex Hiltner and Beau Maciej each added at least five.

Pierz plays at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and Holdingford plays at Rockford Area, Friday.
