Boys Basketball: Pekarek scores 28, Abeler 20 as Upsala runs away from Osakis in second half

Sophomore Christian Pekarek scored 28 points and junior Matt Abeler poured in 20, leading the Upsala boys basketball to a 78-55 win over Osakis, Tuesday.

The game was close throughout the first half, with the Cardinals carrying a 35-31 lead into halftime.

Upsala pulled away down the stretch, though, outscoring the Silverstreaks 43-24 in the final 18 minutes.

Junior Eric Frieler also reached double figures with 10 points, as well as five assists and four rebounds.

Juniors Andy Nelson (8), Nick Frieler (6), Avery Smieja (4) and Garrett Wolf (2) also scored for Upsala, with Smieja pulling down a team-high seven rebounds.
