Rakow Tax Service opens in Little Falls

Rakow Tax Service, located in the FallsNet building at 58 East Broadway in Little Falls, has opened for business, just in time for the 2012 tax season.
Owner Greg Rakow said he got into the tax business when
real estate slowed down several years ago. Prior to doing taxes, he worked at Century 21 New Horizons. He still holds his license and continues to sell real estate, but now for Riverside Realty.
“I wanted to give tax preparation a try while I was still selling real estate,” said Rakow. He trained with H and R Block and worked with the company for five years in St. Cloud, mostly part time, while he continued to work with Centruy 21, also part time.
But, Rakow came to the realization that many tax services tend to overcharge the working poor to have their taxes done.
“I went off on my own to be able to provide a more affordable service to my customers,” he said. “I am very excited about the upcoming tax season and what I can do to help others in tax preparation.”
Rakow Tax Service provides all the same services and offers the same products that any other tax company provides, but at a reduced cost. He is also open all year long, to assist his customers with any problems or questions they may have.
“Sometimes people lose their returns and need them for various reasons during the year,” said Rakow. “I am open all year around in case my customers need a copy of their return or have any questions.”
Rakow’s business partner, Xiomara Kirby, originally from Panama, specializes in working with Spanish-speaking customers. The two are proud of the fact they offer that option for the Latin American community.
Rakow lives in the Freedhem area on an 87-acre hobby farm where he raises chickens and ducks. He has two grown daughters living in Little Falls and Fargo, N.D.
In his spare time, he loves to travel in his motor home to Michigan, South Dakota and beyond.
Besides his tax preparation business and selling real estate, Rakow also drives school bus each morning and afternoon for Palmer Bus Company.
“I have been well-trained in tax preparation, am experienced and have the taxpayer’s best interests at heart,” said Rakow. “I am looking to render personal service at a reasonable price.” Rakow specializes in personal taxes for both singles and married couples. Included in that are employees, farmers, those in the military, the self-employed, seniors, retirees, students and parents. He will also prepare small business returns.
