Jeanne M. Foster, 85

Jeanne M. Foster, a resident of Little Falls, formerly of Richfield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held Friday at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls with the Rev. David Sperstad officiating. Burial was at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Jeanne Marie Foster was born in Waukegan, Ill., Aug. 18, 1926, to the late Theodore and Hazel (Radschweit) Twistol. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Foster, April 17, 1948, in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Richfield, where they raised their five children. Donald died in November of 1997. Jeanne continued to live in Richfield until 2006 when she moved to Prior Lake then eventually to Little Falls to be near her children. Jeanne was an excellent cook and crafter. She enjoyed her flowers, sewing, reading, playing cards and Scrabble. Jeanne loved spending time with her family and had a way of letting each of her children and grandchildren know they were “her favorite.”

She will be missed by her children, Stephanie (Jeff) Doty of Little Falls, Jeff (Becky) Foster of Cass Lake, Craig Foster of Plymouth, Marshall Foster of Prior Lake, and son in-law, Martin Trence of Prior Lake. Jeanne has 14 grandchildren: Eric (Bonnie) Doty of Shakopee, Karla (Chris) Johnson of Becker, Joshua (Kimberly) Doty of Monticello, Greg (Corrie) Foster of Virginia, Michael Foster of St. Louis Park, Emily (Chuck) Erlandson of Mound, Breanne Miller of Minnetonka, Nicholas Foster of Andover, Derek Foster of Plymouth, Troy Foster of Prior Lake, Blake Foster of Belle Plaine, Ryan Foster of Shakopee, Marija and Nathan Trence of Prior Lake and eight great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Alan Twistol of McGregor, Mary Law of Maple Grove and Marjorie Smith of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by husband, Donald Foster; daughter Alison Trence; and her sisters Beverly Sheldon, Betty Mihevic, Yvonne Shendel, and Karen Erkila.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeanne’s granddaughters: Karla (Doty) Johnson, Breanne (Foster) Miller, Emily (Foster) Erlandson and Marija Trence. Active pallbearers were Jeanne’s grandsons, Eric Doty, Josh Doty, Greg Foster, Mike Foster, Nick Foster, Troy Foster, Derek Foster, Blake Foster, Ryan Foster and Nathan Trence.
