Boys Basketball: Weber ignites second-half rally for Pioneers against HLWW

Senior Preston Weber scored 22 second-half points as the Pierz boys basketball team shook off a slow start to rally past Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW) 74-65, Friday.

The Pioneers trailed 32-25 at halftime before Weber helped Pierz score 49 second-half points, finishing with a game-high 32 points.

Senior Logan Meyer also came alive in the second half, where he scored all 14 of his points.

Senior Caleb Janson posted a double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds, while juniors Jess Kasper (5), Mitch Bednar (4) and Cullin Carter (1) capped the scoring.

Junior Josh Templin dished out six assists.

“We played our best game of the year so far,” head coach Danny Saehr said. “We got contribution from a lot of guys and made a lot of big plays down the stretch.”

Pierz hosts Foley, Tuesday.
