Boys Hockey: Holthaus, Newman score twice as Flyers top Tech

After a sluggish start, the Little Falls boys hockey team came out firing in the second period against St. Cloud Tech, Tuesday.

Behind two goals from junior Ben Newman and goals by senior Michael Holthaus and junior Austin Bjorge, the Flyers seized control of the game in the second, leading to a 5-1 win.

After a near-even shot total in the first period and Tech scoring the lone goal, the Flyers outshot the Tigers 31-10 in the final two periods.

Holthaus added his second goal of the game 42 seconds into the third period.

Junior Luke Majerle and sophomore Mark Anez each had two assists for Little Falls, while Bjorge, Holthaus, senior Mitch Gregory and junior Matt Stumpf added one apiece.

Little Falls hosts Detroit Lakes, Friday.
