Girls Basketball: Wiener scores 16, but LPGE fends off Royals

Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (LPGE) used the strength of its two post players to defeat the Royalton girls basketball team, Tuesday.

LPGE’s inside duo combined for 48 points as the Thunder held off the Royals 57-48.

Royalton trailed by seven at halftime before pulling within one point in the second half, but couldn’t get the basket it needed to take the lead.

Senior Megan Wiener guided the Royals with 16 points and seven rebounds and senior Bridget Tschida had nine points and four rebounds.

Junior Kandy Meyer posted seven points and seven assists, while juniors Hannah Fussy (5) and Kalee Petron (3), seniors Amy Vannurden (2) and Erika Zimmerman (2)  and sophomore Emily Fussy (2) rounded out the scoring.

Royalton plays at Rush City, Friday.
