The Little Falls boys hockey team scored six goals in the first period against Detroit Lakes Friday and the rout was on from there, as the Flyers blasted the Lakers 9-1.

Detroit Lakes was the first team to score, striking 3:03 into the action.

But Michael Holthaus’ goal 3:50 later set off a mad flurry for Little Falls of six goals in less than eight minutes.

Alex Nelson scored twice, while Luke Majerle, Joey Hanowski and Matt Stumpf also tallied goals in the first period.

Little Falls capitalized on a power play with just six seconds left in the second period as Mark Anez scored to push the Flyers’ advantage to 7-1 heading into the third.

In the final period, August Maciej and Austin Bjorge tacked on two more to cap the scoring in the lopsided contest.
