Wrestling: Huskers claim four individual titles at Paynesville Invite

The Holdingford wrestling team finished a close second in a three-team race at the Paynesville Invite, Friday.
Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta won the tournament, with 185 1/2 points, five ahead of the runner-up Huskers and eight ahead of third-place Paynesville Area.
Holdingford was led by four individual champions and finished with 12 place-winners.
Freshman Zach Scott claimed the first title at 106 pounds and junior Trevor Scott prevailed 5-3 in overtime to take first at 132.
Senior Mike Jarnot pinned his way through the bracket at 138 and sophomore Jordan Gombos used a pin and a technical fall to take first at 160.
Sophomore Mitch Messman also reached the finals, placing second at 195.
Junior Adam Lane and sophomores Kyle Gerads and Mitch Merten placed third, junior Jason Jarnot finished fourth, eighth grader Clem Gerads earned fifth and junior Kyle Kolstad and freshman Nathan Brinker placed sixth for the Huskers.
Holdingford wrestles at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa tonight in a Central Minnesota Conference dual.
