Boys Basketball: Royalton pulls away from Ogilvie in second half

The Royalton boys basketball team broke open a close game in the second half, Tuesday, leading to a 54-37 victory over Ogilvie.

Senior Steve Hoff led all scorers with 19 points.

Senior Tyler Makela had a balanced all-around game with 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Senior Brandon Lattimer and junior Matt Silbernick combined for 13 points and 12 rebounds, while senior Curtis Makela (3) and junior Justin Opatz (1) also scored.

The Royals held a narrow 25-24 lead at halftime before outscoring the visiting Lions.

“While we didn’t necessarily shine offensively, we started to show signs of being able to run the floor and make things happen,” head coach Randy Thielges said.

Royalton plays at Upsala, Friday.
