George P. Lentner, 90

George P. Lentner, a resident of Foley, died Jan. 17, 2012 peacefully at the farm that he loved, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Jan. 21, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with the Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

George Lentner was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Graham Township, Benton County, to John and Theresa (Thueringer) Lentner. He married Celestine ‘Sally’ Warzecha Sept. 18, 1951, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. He had lived and farmed his whole life in Graham Township. He was also a carpenter and had worked for Lyle Huston Construction. George enjoyed the land, animals and fishing. He was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the Gilman Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Council.

George is survived by his wife, Celestine ‘Sally’ of Foley; sons and daughters, Mary (Earl) Lust, Pierz, Joan Lentner, Minneapolis, Bill, Rice, Sister Ruth, Little Falls, Fred (Teresa), Foley, Shirley (Gary) Scapanski, Sauk Rapids, Dave (Monica), Rice, Gloria (Chris) Brown, Lino Lakes and Tom (Mary), Foley; brothers and sister, Ralph, Hillman, Jim, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Everett, St. Cloud and Dorothy Tomporowski, Houston, Texas; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce; infant son, Patrick; brothers and sisters, Josephine Dejarlais, Clem, Al, Rose Zulkosky, Delores Sowald, Margaret Werst and Norbert ‘Bud’.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sustainable Farming Association of Central Minnesota, Box 192, Princeton, MN 55371 or Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls.
