It was the 500th career game for Little Falls head coach Tony Couture when the Flyers hosted Sartell-St. Stephen, Thursday.

And for the 288th time since he took over in 1993, it was a winning night for the Flyers.

Little Falls once again jumped out to a quick start with two goals in each of the first two periods.

Senior Mitch Gregory netted a pair of goals, including one on a power-play, to provide a spark for the Flyers’ offense.

Sophomore Mark Anez scored the first goal of the game and junior Austin Bjorge tallied the final goal.

Bjorge has now scored a goal in nine consecutive games.

Junior Mike Stumpf saved every one of the 22 shots he faced to notch the shutout victory in net.

Couture coached five consecutive state tournament teams from 2005-2009, finishing as high as third place in 2009.

Little Falls hosts Fergus Falls, Friday.
