Girls Basketball: Sixth-ranked Cardinals defeat Royals 66-37

A scramble for a loose ball between (from left) Upsala senior Donna Ripplinger and Royalton seniors Megan Wiener and Bridget Tschida resulted in Ripplinger creating a turnover for the Cardinals. Upsala won Thursday’s home game 66-37.

Upsala built a 36-16 halftime lead before easing to a 66-37 win over Royalton, Thursday.

Wuebkers led four Cardinals in double figures with 22 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Mrozek scored 12 points, while Herzog and Pelzer each added 11.

The Royals were led by senior Amy Vannurden with 10 points.

Upsala plays at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle and Royalton hosts St. John’s Prep, Tuesday.
