The second annual Granite City Ice Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 on Pleasant Lake, between St. Cloud and Rockville. Registration starts at 10 a.m., with fishing from noon – 3 p.m. More than $7,500 in prizes will be awarded, including portable fish houses, augers, fish locaters and much more.
Last year, the first annual event attracted more than 200 participants. More than 65 fish were caught, the top one by a Scout from Becker. An even larger field of participants is expected this year, and organizers hope the fish are biting like they were last year.
Youths and adults are invited and encouraged to attend the event, which will also feature concessions, warming locations, kids’ activities and a designated spectator area. Participants are encouraged to pre-register, at a discounted rate, by visiting www.bsacmc.org, and clicking on Granite City Ice Derby.
