Boys Basketball: Stellar defense, Hoff’s offense lifts Royalton over Bertha-Hewitt

Solid first-half defense led the Royalton boys basketball team to a 59-53 road win against Bertha-Hewitt, Tuesday.

The Royals limited Bertha-Hewitt to 19 points to take an eight-point edge into the second half, then held on for the win.

Senior Steve Hoff sank 23 points to guide the offense, with juniors Justin Opatz and Matt Silbernick each contributing 11.

Senior Tyler Makela had seven points and six assists and senior Dan Anshus chipped in three points.

Senior Brandon Lattimer seized a team-high eight rebounds.

Royalton plays at St. John’s Prep, Thursday.
