Girls Basketball: Monson, Rocheleau double-doubles carry Pierz past Kimball

Senior Lindsay Monson and junior Michaela Rocheleau each recorded double-doubles as the Pierz girls basketball team held off Kimball Area 50-42, Tuesday.

A late surge by the visiting Cubs cut a 17-point Pierz lead to single digits, but the Pioneers’ defense clamped down to seal the victory.

Monson scored 17 points and Rocheleau had 15 points to lead Pierz, with each player grabbing 10 rebounds.

Senior Lisa Langer added 10 points and three steals, and junior Alyssa Boser had four points and four assists.

Juniors Elizabeth Tomala (2) and Megan Boser (1) and sophomore Bridget Bednar (1) rounded out the scoring.

It was the sixth consecutive win for Pierz, which improved to 6-1 in the Central Minnesota Conference.

The Pioneers play at Rockford Area, Friday.
