Wrestling: Second-ranked Kimball knocks off Pioneers

Pierz traveled to Kimball Area, Tuesday, for a Central Minnesota Conference wrestling dual against the second-ranked Cubs.

With eight ranked individuals, the 20-0 Cubs were able to take down the Pioneers by a score of 47-22.

The Cubs opened the dual with a major decision before sophomore Evan Woitalla earned a quick fall 50 seconds into his match at 113.

Kimball recovered to take a 20-6 lead before sophomore Ed Gerry and junior Brad Meyer picked up decisions in the middle weights.

Senior Nathan Tomala won with a 16-5 major decision at 170 before junior Travis Johnson closed out the dual with a fall for Pierz’ other victories.

Pierz hosts Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Thursday.
