Wrestling: Tomala, Meyer lead Pierz to title at South St. Paul Invite

The Pierz wrestling team emerged on top of the 16-team field at the South St. Paul Veldman Invite, Saturday, led by a pair of individual champions.
Senior Nathan Tomala took first place at 170 pounds and junior Brad Meyer was the champion at 152.
Sophomores Chris Ortman and Brandon Sullivan also reached the finals, finishing in second.
Senior Dustin Waytashek placed third, sophomores Ryley Smude and Evan Woitalla earned fourth, junior Travis Johnson took fifth and senior Trent Davis was sixth.
The 10th-ranked Pioneers host a tri against Osakis and Staples-Motley, Thursday.
