Boys Basketball: Janson scores 1,000th point as Pierz steamrolls EVW

Pierz boys basketball senior Caleb Janson checked off another career milestone against Eden Valley-Watkins (EVW), Tuesday, scoring his 1,000th career point.
Janson reached the mark with 3:56 to play in the first half and finished the night with 28 points, leading the Pioneers to an 81-49 victory.
He also grabbed 18 rebounds and sank four three-point shots.
Senior Preston Weber was the next highest scorer, finishing with 17 points to increase his career total to 990.
Senior Dylan Smieja followed with 10 points and junior Cullin Carter had nine points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Juniors Josh Templin (5), Ben Boser (3) and Jess Kasper (2) and seniors Michael Marshik (2), Logan Meyer (2), Kevin Mitchell (2) and Ben Huffman (1) also scored.
The game was tied 18-18 midway through the first half before the Pioneers went on a 26-14 run to close the half and broke the game open in the second.
Janson also broke the Pierz record for career rebounds with his 744th against Sauk Rapids-Rice, Dec. 30, 2011.
Pierz hosts Holdingford, Friday.
