Boys Basketball: Royalton rallies past Osakis in closing minutes

Trailing by four with 10 minutes to play, the Royalton boys basketball team rallied past Osakis 56-53, Tuesday.

The visiting Silverstreaks hit a pair of three-point shots in the final minute to pull within three before the Royals sealed the win.

Osakis took a 21-19 lead into halftime before the Royalton offense broke out for 37 points in the second half.

“We had some problems getting inside versus the Osakis zone defense,” head coach Randy Thielges said. “In the second half we did a better job of working inside out.”

Seniors Steve Hoff, Dan Anshus and Tyler Makela led the Royals offensively, with Hoff scoring 19 points, Anshus netting 10 and Makela recording nine points and seven assists.

Juniors Matt Silbernick (8), Luke Wentland (6) and Justin Opatz (2) and senior Curtis Makela (2) also provided offense for Royalton.

The Royals play at Eagle Valley, Friday.
