The last time the Little Falls boys hockey team lost prior to Tuesday was at Alexandria, Dec. 15, 2011.

In that game, the Flyers built a 3-0 lead, only to lose 4-3 in overtime, falling to 3-6 on the season.

Entering Tuesday’s rematch, Little Falls had won 11 in a row, outscoring its opponents 65-9.

The Flyers once again seized control early, but this time did not relinquish it, shutting out the visiting Cardinals 4-0.

Senior Joey Hanowski opened the scoring midway through the first period, with senior Mike Anez and juniors Austin Bjorge and Ben Newman also finding the back of the net.

Junior Luke Majerle tallied two assists in the game.

Senior Michael Holthaus and juniors Nathan Adamietz, Spencer Fenske and August Maciej each added one.

Little Falls outshot Alexandria 39-7, as junior goaltender Mike Stumpf recorded his seventh shutout of the season.

The win also puts the Flyers in prime position to attain the top seed in Section 6A as the lone team remaining with only one section loss.
