Loren D. Simmons, a resident of Pine River, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Carefree Living in Brainerd.
Services were held Wednesday, at Faith Assembly of God Church, Pine River, with Pastor Tim Walker officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Little Falls.
Loren was born to Edward and Olive (Dunn) Simmons Oct. 3, 1918, in Little Falls. He married B. Elaine McConnell, Aug. 30, 1946. They moved to Pine River in 1968 where he resided until the time of his death. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 34th Infantry Red Bull Division. Upon activation, he then served for 42 months during World War II. During his military service he was stationed in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Ireland and fought in seven campaigns in Africa and several in Italy.
Loren is survived by his children, Robert Simmons (Karen) of Laguna Hills, Calif., David Simmons (Triss) of Brainerd, Linda Johnson (Dennis) of Brainerd and Loren E. Simmons (Sarah) of Pine River; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, B. Elaine; parents; brothers, Aubrey and Dale; and grandson, Robert Simmons, Jr.
