The Pierz girls basketball team gave the first place team in the CMC all it could handle on the road, Thursday.

However, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW) fought off numerous rallies by the Pioneers to remain perfect in the CMC, winning 52-41.

Senior Lindsay Monson once again was the top scorer for Pierz, pouring in 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Junior Michaela Rocheleau (8), sophomore Bridget Bednar (6), senior Lisa Langer (6) and juniors Elizabeth Tomala (5) and Alyssa Boser (2) also scored.

Alyssa Boser added a team-high five assists.

Pierz hosts Eden Valley-Watkins, Monday.
