Girls Basketball: Pierz slips past Eden Valley-Watkins 60-57

The Pierz girls basketball team had a 12-point lead erased by Eden Valley-Watkins late in Monday’s game.

But as time wound down, the Pioneers stepped up, closing out the visiting Eagles 60-57 to improve to 7-3 in the Central Minnesota Conference.

Senior Lindsay Monson led the way for Pierz, scoring 16 points and blocking six shots.

Juniors Alyssa Boser and Megan Boser and sophomore Bridget Bednar each followed with nine points.

Junior Elizabeth Tomala added seven, senior Lisa Langer had six and freshman Kayla Carter scored four to cap the scoring for the Pioneers.

Bednar grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and Megan Boser dished out five assists.

Pierz travels to Holdingford, Friday.
