Ronald J. Nelson, 84

Ronald J. Nelson, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with the Rev. Gary Hendrickson officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Military Rites were conducted by the Randall VFW Post #9073 and the Little Falls American Legion Post #46.

Ronald “Ronnie” J. Nelson was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Sauk Centre, to the late Carl and Ida (Sell) Nelson. He entered the military in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He was united in marriage to Donna Bundy, June 27, 1949, in Swanville. Ronnie and Donna resided in Little Falls where they raised their four children. He retired from his service station/bulk oil business in 1981. He spent the following years traveling, gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and enjoying time with friends and family. He was highly involved with the creation of the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #46 and the Randall VFW Post #9073.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Nelson of Little Falls; children, Cheryl Budnick of Little Falls, Debora (Gary) Anderson of Clear Lake and David Nelson of Hannibal, Mo. (formally Randall); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; three brothers; a son, Stephen Nelson; a son-in-law, John Budnick and grandson, Steven Patrick Nelson.

Pallbearers were Jason Budnick, Jeff Budnick, Joe Nelson, Tony Nelson, Ryan Peterson, Ryan Waltman and Reed Anderson.
