Wrestling: Swanson pin seals Flyers’ win over 12th-ranked Anoka

The Little Falls wrestling team met up with three ranked squads at Saturday’s Anoka Duals, going 1-2.

Little Falls defeated AAA’s 12th-ranked Anoka (36-33) before falling against AAA’s second-ranked Hastings (58-13) and AA’s fifth-ranked New London-Spicer (36-27).

Against Anoka, Little Falls built a 21-0 win after pins by eighth grader Justin Jenks, senior Frank Wilczek and sophomore Dan Mushel and a 10-3 decision by sophomore Axel Lange to open the dual.

Senior Dillon Kifer earned a fall at 138 pounds before Anoka closed the Flyers’ edge to 27-22 after 170.

Senior Adam Grams then won 4-2 before Anoka took a 33-30 lead into the final bout of the dual.

Junior Conor Swanson erased Anoka’s short-lived lead, pinning his opponent in 3:23 to give Little Falls the win and a spot in the semifinals.

Wilczek and Kifer each won all three of their matches for the Flyers on the day.

Little Falls hosts a tri against Princeton and Sartell-St. Stephen, Thursday.
