A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday Feb. 14 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 13 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Burial will be at the St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Pierz.
Elizabeth was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Pierz, to the late Joseph and Anna (Schraut) Stangl. She was united in marriage to Anton Benedict Becker, Jan. 11, 1932, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made a home in the Pierz area where they farmed. Later, they owned a dairy farm near Little Falls where they raised their family of five children. Elizabeth enjoyed playing cards, quilting, flower gardening, baking cookies and spending time with her children and grandchildren. During her career, she worked at Munsingwear, Crestliner and retired from St. Gabriel’s Hospital where she worked as a dietary aide. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church while living in Little Falls and enjoyed being a member of 4-H, Farmers Union, Cheery Cherry Ladies, Little Falls Senior Center and Christian Mothers where she generously gave of her time. Later she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. While a resident of the Rose Court in Pierz, she was a member of their Senior Board where she assisted in organizing events for the residents and also volunteered at the Pierz Villa.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cleora (Gene) Donaldson of Westmont, Ill., Arlene (Walter) Palmer of Minneapolis, David (Irene) Becker of Little Falls, Vivian (Loudie) Pretorius of Pretoria, South Africa, and Delphine (Joseph) Tuholsky of Burnsville; siblings, Conrad Stangl, Laura (Stangl) Kapsner, Edward (Lucille) Stangl, Urban (Viola) Stangl and Marvin (Marian) Stangl; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Becker (1988) of 56 years; parents, Joseph and Anna Stangl; siblings, Barbara Millner, Gertude Kapsner and Jerome Stangl; brothers-in-law, Frank Millner, Edward Kapsner and Al Kapsner; sisters-in-law, Laura (Langer) Stangl and Beatrice (Casey) Stangl. Pallbearers were Jill Ruiz, Noelle Palmer, Scott Palmer, Dominic Palmer, David Donaldson, Connie Insco, Steve Becker and Kevin Becker.
