Mary Rose (Zimmerman) Brooks, 73

Mary Rose (Zimmerman) Brooks, of Park Rapids,  formally of the Little Falls area, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at her residence near Park Rapids.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Joy Christian Center in Sauk Rapids/St. Cloud, MN.  There will be a visitation held on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the Joy Christian Center.  Pastor Bob Light is the officiate.  A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Mary was born Sept. 6, 1938, daughter of John and Theresa (Muellner) Gerads. She attended Upsala High School, graduating in 1956. She moved to Little Falls and worked at Northwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. She married John Zimmerman, Oct. 18, 1958. They had four children, Sandy, Susan, Steve and Dennis. They farmed together for a number of years and later divorced. She moved to Little Falls, worked at Sanitary Bakery, then bought the Twelve Mile Tavern, which she owned and  operated for six years. She met and married Rod Brooks and moved to Park Rapids.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rod; child-ren, Sandy (Bill) Henry of Royalton, Steve (Tracy) Zimmerman of Bowlus and Dennis (Maria) Zimmerman of Sauk Rapids and son-in-law, Ray Zanda of Swanville; stepchildren, Craig (Dot) Brooks of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Julie (Stan) Haas of Worthington and Tom (Cheryl) Brooks of Jackson; siblings, Margaret Ostendorf of Albany, Lawrence (Dorothy) Gerads of Sauk Rapids, Tony Gerads of St. Cloud, Erma (John) Anderson of Rochester and Monica (Konrad) Göres of Mainz, Germany; also seven grandchildren, Mike, Lisa, Lori, Jenna, Jeremy, Dylan and Cheryl and 11 great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.
