Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW) couldn’t contain Pierz’ offense Thursday, as the Pioneers sprinted to a 25-point advantage in the second half before easing to a 74-63 win.

“We played our best all-around game of the year tonight,” Pierz head coach Danny Saehr said. “We had some guys step up and make big plays. I’m very proud of our effort against a great team.”

Leading the effort once again was the senior duo of Caleb Janson and Preston Weber.

Janson scored 21 points and hauled in 18 boards and Weber sank 20 points.

Junior Jess Kasper helped ignite the offense as well with 13 points and five rebounds and senior Logan Meyer reached double figures once again with 11 points.

Juniors Cullin Carter (4), Ben Boser (3) and Mitch Bednar (2) also scored.

Pierz plays at top-ranked Braham, Saturday.
