Wrestling: Pierz sweeps HLWW tri to wrap up regular season

Pierz took care of two more Central Minnesota Conference foes at Thursday’s Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW) tri to wrap up its regular season.

The Pioneers defeated HLWW 38-37 on criteria before defeating Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 39-25.

Pierz heads into the section tournament with a 23-4 overall record and the top seed.

Senior Trent Davis, junior Brad Meyer, sophomores Evan Woitalla and Brandon Sullivan and eighth grader Kolton Eischens each went 2-0 on the night, with Davis pinning both of his opponents in the first period.
