Girls Basketball: Pierz defeats Holdingford 68-43, remains in second in CMC

In the first half, the Pierz girls basketball team controlled the tempo with its defense.

In the second half, the offense took over, leading the Pioneers to a 68-43 Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) victory at Holdingford, Friday.

Leading Pierz on both ends of the floor was senior Lindsay Monson.

Monson put up 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double while swatting away seven shots.

Senior Lisa Langer (15) and sophomore Bridget Bednar (14) also reached double figures, followed by freshman Kayla Carter (9), juniors Alyssa Boser (7) and Elizabeth Tomala (3) and sophomore Tiara Hopkins (2).

Sophomores Sam Maciej and Jodi Middendorf each had 10 points for the Huskers and junior Jena Volkers added seven.

Pierz plays at Pine City, tonight, and Holdingford next plays at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Thursday.
