The Great River Arts Association (GRAA) will welcome Harper’s Chord, a new local country music group celebrating the release of its first full-length CD, “Natural Bridge” on Saturday, Feb. 25, with a live concert. The talented trio is made up of Jill Moore, Paul Drinkwine and Roger Fink.

A Minnesota native, Moore settled in Little Falls with her husband, who grew up in the area. She has worked as a traveling dancer and singer for various production companies, including dancing as a California Raisin. “After 10 years of working as a touring artist, I was alone in a hotel room on New Year’s Eve, I knew it was time to come home.” She now works as a part-time dance and movement instructor for St. Francis while performing local gigs with the band.

Moore has known her musical partners for more than seven years. Drinkwine grew up in a musical family, playing the mandolin, cello and guitar. His musical style is described as a “picker,” able to create amazing runs that create a unique story through sound. Fink, in comparison, plays in more of a rhythmic guitar style, giving their songs a bluesy feel to them at times. Fink also grew up in a musical family playing the drums, banjo and guitar. “Natural Bridge” features the grass roots, back porch, organic elements of country folk music. Moore enjoys how the songs tell stories of personal journey that the audience can relate to easily, while giving the musicians the opportunity to showcase their impressive talents.

On Saturday, March 17, Great River Arts welcomes back the Little Falls Jazz Combo as part of its annual Youth Art Month programming. The student-led combo celebrates the musical talents from the Little Falls Community High School. Proceeds from the concert help pay traveling expenses for the band to perform at regional events.

Tickets for both events are on sale now at the Great River Arts Center, Reality Roasters, The Good Book Store and online at brownpapertickets.com. Tickets for the Jazz Combo will also be available through the music department at Little Falls Community High School.

Attendees can join members of Harper’s Chord for an after party at the Red Bull Bar following the concert. Save your ticket stub and enjoy a drink special courtesy of the Red Bull Bar.
