Swanville High School recently announced its choices for January Athletes of the Month.
Jordan Sales, son of Bruce and Chris Sales, is the Boys Basketball Athlete of the Month, and Marissa Evans, daughter of Kevin and Mary Evans, is the Girls Basketball Athlete of the Month.
“Jordan averaged 10.6 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game,” said coach Steve Miller. “Jordan is only a freshman and he works really hard every game. He goes against 6-foot, 4-inch and 6-foot, 5-inch players, and being only 6-foot, 2-inches, he holds his own against them.”
During the month of January, Sales had three double doubles and in one game had seven blocked shots.
Miller said the nicest thing about Sales was that, “He is coachable and has a great attitude.”
“Marissa is a junior and is leading our team in points scored (19.4 ppg) and rebounds (10.1 rpg),” said coach Aaron Gapinski.
“She works extremely hard every night in practice and games,” he said. “Marissa is a player that wants to get better individually and will do whatever it takes to see the team have success.”
