Nordic Skiing: Little Falls girls earn seventh at state

Little Falls junior Chelsea Rutz navigates down a slope during Thursday’s state Nordic ski meet. Rutz covered the course in 40:30.4 to help the Flyers to a seventh-place finish.

Led once again by junior Maria Hauer, the Little Falls girls Nordic ski team placed seventh at Thursday’s state meet.

Hauer, who won the Section 8A individual title, placed 42nd overall in 37:52.5.

Junior Mattia Hendrickson was the next finisher, putting together a time of 39:20.8 on the day place 71st.

Also placing in the top 100 and placing for the Flyers were sophomore Kaitlin Geisenhof (40:22.4) and junior Chelsea Rutz (40:30.4).

Juniors Josie Lange (44:48.3) and Chloe Houle (46:08.6) and senior Ingrid Floersheim (46:53.1) rounded out the state line-up for Little Falls.

In the boys race, senior Preston Zimny capped his career with a 51st-place finish in the his third trip to state.

Zimny had a time of 15:42 in the freestyle and 16:40.3 in the classic for an overall time of 32:22.3.

Seniors on this year’s girls team included Alishia Olson, Hannah Harkin, Ingrid Floersheim and Sarah Andringa.
