Boys Basketball: Carter nets 20, but Maple Lake clips Pierz 66-63

Maple Lake handed the visiting Pierz boys basketball team just its second Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) loss, Tuesday, winning 66-63.

Junior Cullin Carter took the reins as the scoring leader for the Pioneers, netting 20 points to go with nine rebounds.

Senior Caleb Janson and junior Jess Kasper each scored 14 points, with Janson hauling down 16 rebounds for a double-double.

Senior Preston Weber (8) and juniors Mitch Bednar (4) and Ben Boser (3) also provided offense.

“Maple Lake flat-out outplayed us tonight,” Pierz head coach Danny Saehr said. “We made too many mistakes and didn’t do enough to win.”

Pierz will aim to rebound with a home game against Kimball Area, Thursday.
