A year after getting upset in the Section 6A quarterfinals, the Little Falls boys hockey team made certain there would not be a repeat, Tuesday.

It took a little while for the Flyers to get rolling, but once they did, Morris-Benson Area had no chance to stop them, as top-seeded Little Falls dominated 9-2.

The game was scoreless midway through the first period before junior Austin Bjorge tallied the first of his two goals 8:07 into the game.

The visiting Storm came right back, though, tying the score less than two minutes later.

That’s when senior Joey Hanowski took over.

Hanowski put Little Falls back in front with 4:19 left in the first period, finding the back of the net for the first of five goals on the night as the Flyers began to pull away.

Junior Alex Nelson added a pair of goals for Little Falls and junior Mike Stumpf posted 15 saves in net for the win.

Senior Michael Holthaus had two assists while senior Mitch Gregory, juniors Spencer Fenske and Luke Majerle and sophomore Mark Anez each picked up one.

Little Falls advances to take on fourth-seeded Sartell-St. Stephen in Saturday’s semifinals.

The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at MAC Arena in St. Cloud.

Sartell advanced with a 3-0 win over St. Cloud Apollo.

The Flyers shut out the Steves 4-0, Jan. 19.
