Girls Basketball: Royalton punishes Onamia 68-40

Nearly the entire Royalton girls basketball roster found the scoring column as the Royals’ depth overwhelmed Onamia, 68-40, Tuesday.

Senior Megan Wiener had 13 points and senior Kelsey Petron and sophomore Emily Fussy each had 10 to lead the Royals.

Seniors Erika Zimmerman (7) and Bridget Tschida (6), juniors Kandy Meyer (5) and Kalee Petron (5), sophomore Jacquline Nichols (4) and seniors Allison Popp (4) and Amy Vannurden (3) rounded out the scoring for Royalton.

“It was a very balanced attack,” Royalton head coach Jeff Schoenrock said. “We played good defense and shot the ball well.”

Royalton wraps up its regular season schedule with a home game against sixth-ranked Upsala, Thursday.

The Royals earned the fourth seed in the Sub-Section 5A East tournament and will host Northland, Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m.
