Upsala senior Donna Ripplinger (14) looks to kick the ball out to the perimeter while being double teamed by Upsala seniors Bridget Tschida and Kelsey Petron (30), Thursday. Ripplinger scored eight points in Upsala’s 76-52 win.

After a concession stand mishap caused the fire alarms to go off and interrupted the game in the first minute, the Upsala offense did some sizzling of its own en route to a 76-52 at Royalton, Thursday.

Mrozek did the bulk of the heavy lifting, scoring 29 points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Junior Aimee Pelzer hit all 10 of her free throws in tallying 14 points while distributing 11 assists.

Senior Donna Ripplinger added eight points and junior Tracy Herzog had seven for the Cardinals.

Sophomore Emily Fussy led Royalton with 10 points.

Upsala capped a perfect 16-0 season in the Prairie Conference with the win.

Upsala plays at third-ranked Parkers Prairie, Monday.

Both teams open Section 5A play Thursday, with Royalton hosting Northland and Upsala hosting the winner between Eagle Valley and Verndale.

Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.

Royalton senior Erika Zimmerman (20) sinks a short jumper in the lane in Thursday’s home finale against Upsala as Cardinals junior Aimee Pelzer (4) looks on. Upsala won 76-52 to complete a perfect Prairie Conference season.
