Hanowski, Gessell earn scholar-athlete honors

Little Falls graduates Ben Hanowski and Austin Gessell each recently earned scholar-athlete awards for their respective teams.

Hanowski, a junior on the St. Cloud State University men’s hockey team, earned his second consecutive scholar-athlete award in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Hanowski serves as one of the team’s captains and currently leads the Huskies in points (33) and goals (17).

Gessell, a freshman on the College of St. Scholastica’s men’s cross country team, earned Academic All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) honors.

The Saints led the UMAC with 69 academic all-conference selections.

Hanowski is the son of John and Julie Hanowski.

Gessell is the son of Lynette and John Gessell.
