Wrestling: Wilczek, Kifer and Scherping advance to state for Little Falls
In addition to qualifying as a team, Little Falls will have three individuals compete at next weekend’s state wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Senior Frank Wilczek captured the 120-pound championship while senior Dillon Kifer and junior Connor Scherping finished as runner-ups to earn their way to state.
Wilczek obliterated the rest of the wrestlers in his class, recording three falls in 52, 19 and 25 seconds.
Scherping had two falls while Kifer had a technical fall and pin to reach the finals.
Justin Jenks, Axel Lange, Adam Grams and Trysten Ross each placed third for the Flyers.
Little Falls opens the state tournament during Thursday’s team competition against Hastings at 9 a.m.
