Swanville and St. John’s Prep lit up the scoreboard in a fast-paced, back-and-forth first half, Friday.
But in the second half, it was all Swanville, as the Bulldogs’ defense put the clamps on St. John’s Prep, limiting the host Johnnies to 17 points to earn a 71-56 win.
Junior Marissa Evans overwhelmed St. John’s Prep throughout the game, piling up 32 points, nine rebounds and five steals.
Junior Tiffany Barthel also wreaked havoc on the perimeter, scoring 18 points and distributing seven assists.
Senior Lexi Loven added seven points, followed by senior Molly Jordan (6), junior Abbey Schultz (4) and sophomore Nikki Primus (4).
“I give all the credit to the girls to be able to make adjustments on the fly and executing the adjustments we made during halftime,” Swanville head coach Aaron Gapinski said. “To win the last regular season game for the two seniors, Lexi and Molly, really meant a lot to the team.”
Swanville put the game away down the stretch with clutch free-throw
shooting, making 12-of-15 in the second half.
