Girls Basketball: Pierz shuts down Kimball in regular season finale

The Pierz girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 38-29 win at Kimball Area, Friday.

The Pioneers led 16-14 at halftime during the defensive struggle before slowly pulling away for the win.

“This was a great way to end the season and now go into the playoffs on a high note,” Pierz head coach Rich Teske said.

Senior Lisa Langer led Pierz with a game-high 11 points, followed by senior Lindsay Monson with eight and junior Michaela Rocheleau with seven.

Juniors Alyssa Boser (6) and Megan Boser (3), sophomore Bridget Bednar (2) and junior Elizabeth Tomala (1) also scored.

Pierz, the fifth seed in North Sub-Section 6AA, will travel to fourth-seeded Albany, Thursday, at 7 p.m.

The Pioneers enter the postseason with a 16-10 record.
