Joseph Wagner, 74

“Joe” Wagner, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating, concelebrating with Father Lauren Virnig. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Parish Prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Joseph “Joe” Benedict Wagner was born May 7, 1937, in Grenville, S.D. to the late Andrew and Anna (Mrozik) Wagner. The family moved to Little Falls, Pike Creek Township in 1948. He attended the brickyard school and Little Falls High School. Joe married Marie Otremba April 20, 1960, in Buckman. The couple purchased a farm southeast of Little Falls. Joe worked for Crestliner for over 20 years where he was Union President of Local 1658. He also served on the board of directors of Midland Co-op and the Little Falls Local of the Farmers Union. Joe enjoyed listening to old time music, dancing, going to auctions and the church bazaars. He is survived by his sons, Michael Wagner of Little Falls, Steven (Maria) Wagner of Fort Ripley, Thomas “Tom” (Amy) Wagner of Pierz and Douglas “Doug” (Tina) Wagner of Royalton; daughter, Carol (Cliff) Jelinski of Little Falls; sister, Rose Schelonka of St. Joseph; brothers, Martin Wagner of Royalton, Andrew “Andy” Wagner of St. Cloud, Fla. and Stanley “Stan” (Mary) Wagner of Royalton; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Anna Wagner; infant sister, Frances; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Herman Wiener; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wagner; granddaughter, Lisa Jelinski; and brother-in- law, Wayne DeVriendt.
