The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce has named its March Employee of the Month. Melody Riddle, an employee of Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Little Falls, said it is very nice to be recognized for doing something she enjoys.

Melody Riddle was named the March Employee of the Month by the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

“I have taken care of the elderly for 25 years and it’s nice knowing you can make a difference in their lives,” she said.

Riddle graduated from Lakeville High School in 1978, and moved to the Little Falls area soon after.

After working at St. Otto’s for several years as a certified nursing assistant, Riddle went back to school at Central Lakes College in Brainerd and graduated as a licensed practical nurse.

She continued her career at St. Otto’s for 20 more years before switching jobs and going to work for Diamond Willow Assisted Living.

“I needed a job, saw the ad, and applied,” she said.

Riddle’s day consists of overseeing the care specialists and setting up medicine for her 19 clients. She sees to doctors’ orders and the clients’ needs. She also keeps the families of her clients informed on their loved-one’s condition.

Diamond Willow Assisted Living takes care of the elderly who can no longer live alone, for whatever reason, and the facility transitions to hospice, so the clients don’t have to move when that time comes.

Riddle’s supervisor, Sara Kleinschmidt, said Riddle consistently goes above and beyond.

“Melody has a true passion for caring for the elderly and their families,” said Kleinschmidt. “We have received many compliments on her attitude and dedication. She is truly deserving of this honor.”

Riddle, a widow, has three daughters, all living in Central Minnesota.

In her spare time, she loves to read suspense novels, watch football and dabble in her flower gardens.

“I wouldn’t be able to accomplish what I do without the support of our dedicated staff, supervisors and my family,” she said.

For being named the Employee of the Month, Riddle received a cookbook from St. Gabriel’s Hospital Hospice Program and gift certificates from Broadway Stylists, Taco John’s, Pizza Ranch and Falls Floral. She will have her photo taken by Silker Studio.
