Percy was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Burnhamville Township, Morrison County, to the late Albert and Manda (Peterson) Peterson. He grew up and attended country school in the Swanville area. Upon graduation Percy enlisted into the U.S. Navy and honorably served his country during World War II in Japan as a Gunner Mate 1st Class. After serving in the Navy for five years Percy was honorably discharged and returned to Minnesota to further his education and to become a licensed electrician. Percy was united in marriage to Gloria Minke, June 14, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. He owned and operated Peterson Electric Company in Little Falls for many years until retiring in the early 1980s. After retirement, Percy and Gloria resided in Long Prairie for 10 years and later relocated back to Little Falls, where they have resided until the present. Percy was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls and also a member of the Little Falls VFW #1112. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and watching sports, especially watching his grandchildren’s events. Though he enjoyed fishing, he liked eating the fish he and his family caught more. Percy had a green thumb always tending to his large productive vegetable garden and he never passed up an opportunity to spend time at his children’s farm. He loved his family most of all especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
