Boys Basketball: Swanville turns aside Verndale, sets up postseason clash with Upsala

Five players reached double figures as the Swanville boys basketball team moved past the first round of the Section 5A playoffs with a 68-56 home win over Verndale, Monday.

Senior Derek Pfeiffer was the leading scorer in the balanced attack with 14 points.

Junior Austin Mollner and freshman Jordan Sales each added 13, with Sales also grabbing 10 rebounds to notch a double-double.

Juniors Tren Dinius and Colten Kruzel contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, followed by seniors Tyler Becker and Cody Novak and sophomore Cody Mollner with two apiece.

Swanville will now travel to Upsala, Thursday, for a 7 p.m. match-up against the Cardinals.

The two squads split a pair of regular-season meetings.
