Boys Basketball: Top-ranked BBE holds off Pioneers

Pierz closed the gap from its first meeting of the season against top-ranked Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE), March 2, but came up a little short, falling 73-64.

Senior Caleb Janson scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Pierz.

Senior Preston Weber and junior Jess Kasper each tallied 14 points and combined for 15 rebounds.

Pierz closed within six late in the game before BBE put it away with free throws.

“We lost to an excellent team,” Pierz head coach Danny Saehr said. “The kids played very hard and this was a great game in a great atmosphere.”
