Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March, 10, 2012 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
Della was born March 29, 1922 on the family farm near Leigh, Neb. to John and Elsie (Glandt) Hogendorn. She attended Glandt School District #31 in Stanton County, a rural one room school, graduated from Leigh High and attended Wayne State Teachers College. She taught school in Stanton County before her marriage to Vernon Pont, Feb. 11, 1945. They moved to Minnesota in February 1957 and lived on the farm in Swan River township south of Little Falls. They were members of the Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School. Della was an active 4-H leader. Later in life she continued her work with children especially enjoying the Foster Grandparent work with special education preschoolers in the Little Falls School District. Della enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening and was an active member and served as president of the Variety Garden Club. Della exhibited her bouquets and plants at various flower shows including the Morrison County Fair where she served as superintendent of the Flower Division. Della sold her flower bouquets at the St. Cloud Farmers Market for several years which enabled her to share her love for and skill with flowers. Della also enjoyed needlework, singing, bird watching and baking.
She is survived by five children Verdel, Greg and Paul of Little Falls, Victoria (Sham) Moteelall of Cologne and Peggy (John) Gopaul of Apple Valley. Grandchildren are Brant and David Moteelall and Rory, Reed, Reece and Rhett Gopaul. She is also survived by one sister, Arlene and her husband Ed Hradec of Clarkson, Neb.; three brothers, John and his wife Marcella Hogendorn of Sartell, Eugene and wife Marilyn Hogendorn of Engelwood, Colo. and Donald and wife Karen Hogendorn of Norfolk, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; one sister, Hazel; four brothers, Harold, Merle, and Paul; and infant Charles; sisters-in-law, Jane Hogendorn and Elvira Hogendorn.
