Jim Langer to speak at Long Prairie baseball banquet

Jim Langer, a Royalton High School graduate and member of the National Football League Hall of Fame, will be a guest speaker at the Long Prairie First Pitch Baseball Banquet, Friday, March 30, at 6 p.m.

The banquet will be held in the Long Prairie High School commons. A meatless spaghetti dinner will be served at a cost of $10 per person.

In addition to his many football accomplishments, Langer was an All-American baseball player at South Dakota State, with a .317 career batting average and the top earned run average in the North Central Conference in 1969.

Langer will make a few comments about his football career, but will speak mainly about his experiences in baseball.

Langer will be introduced by the Rev. John O. Grein of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville, a college football teammate of Langer’s.
