Swanville High School selected junior Tren Dinius and sophomore Nikki Primus as its February Athletes of the Month. Dinius, son of Janal and Allen Kruzel, is the Boys Basketball Athlete of the Month and Primus, daughter of Kristin and Bill Primus, is the Girls Basketball Athlete of the Month.
Dinius was second on the team in scoring when selected, averaging 10.8 points per game, and was first in steals with 2.4 per game. He also led the team in three-point shooting at 34 percent. He ended the regular season by scoring 35 points against St. John’s Prep.
“Tren has a motor that doesn’t stop,” Miller said. “He has a nose for the basketball and works so hard on defense. He leads the team in steals and hustle. He is fun to coach and the best thing is he comes to practice every day and practices just like he plays the game.”
“Nikki is a post player who really stepped up her game the last half of the season,” girls head coach Aaron Gapinski said. “She was asked to do a lot for us this year, including playing a half of JV as well as be the first person off the bench for varsity.”
“When we had a couple of girls go down with injuries, Nikki really elevated her play, jumping into the starting line-up,” Gapinski said. “I am really excited about the future for Nikki. Congratulations Nikki and keep up the hard work.”
